SMCI Is Printing a $72 Billion Revenue Story at a P/E of 13

Signal: BUY | Score: 66.75/100

Supermicro just reported $39 billion in full-year revenue, guided to $65-72 billion for next year, and the stock is trading at 13x earnings. That's not a typo. While the market has been skeptical of SMCI for months, the fundamentals here are starting to look absurdly cheap relative to the growth on the table.

The Setup

SMCI is sitting at $43.85, well off its 52-week high of $58.78 but up sharply from the $19.48 low. That's a stock that already survived the worst-case scenario and clawed back. RSI is at 63.3 - healthy momentum without being overbought. The forward P/E of 8.2x on a company guiding to 93% revenue growth is the kind of setup that gets value investors and growth investors in the same room. Price-to-sales of 0.73x on an AI infrastructure name is almost comically low.

The Catalyst

Three things converged here to build a powerful bull case.

First, on September 23, SMCI began shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack systems. This isn't a product announcement - these are actual shipments targeting deployments from 5 megawatts to gigawatt-scale AI data centers. Being on the Vera Rubin supply chain from day one is a massive positioning win.

Second, the August earnings print was a jaw-dropper. Q4 revenue of $11.1 billion, up 91% year over year, with management flagging more than $60 billion in new orders and a FY2027 revenue guide of $65-72 billion.

Third, the export-compliance investigation wrapped up on August 20 with no finding that current management was involved in any chip diversion scheme. The single biggest regulatory cloud hanging over this stock has been cleared.

Bull Case

  • Valuation re-rating potential. At 8.2x forward earnings with 90%+ revenue growth, a move to just 12-15x forward puts SMCI at $63-75 per share.
  • Order backlog is enormous. Over $60 billion in new orders with a $65-72 billion revenue guide means demand is validated, not speculative.
  • Vera Rubin is a multi-year cycle. Early positioning in next-gen NVIDIA rack systems locks in revenue streams that extend well beyond FY2027.

Bear Case

  • Margin pressure is real. Profit margins sit at just 5.7%, and scaling rapidly in a competitive hardware market makes expansion difficult.
  • Debt-to-equity of 64 is elevated. If the AI buildout cools or financing conditions tighten, the balance sheet becomes a vulnerability.

The Trade

  • Entry: $43.85
  • Target: $62.00
  • Stop Loss: $36.00
  • Risk/Reward: approximately 2.3:1
  • Timeframe: 3-6 months, with earnings on November 3 as a near-term catalyst
